UNITED

Some of the friends took time to meet up and we discussed on the possibilities of participating in the AFL (Amatuer Football League). The League will commenced in late April.

We listed down some of the impediments and decided to hear more voices. We had both good and the not so good. I digested some of the comments made. We had good response from majority and concluded that we will continue with our team progress.

However, we have also made the decision not to accept all the players who may have expressed interest in joining us. They can continue to train and proof they are part of the team. We need unity and will mitigate risks. Otherwise, I will encourage them to play their football somewhere else.

Some of the not so positive issues are as follows :

1. Not responding to team rules / communication discipline or instigated communications which
is deem offensive or harmful to the team that may create social unrest

2. Not willing to contribute as a whole and is seem taking advantage of team welfare

3. Lack ethics and humanitary protocol

To maintain and substantiate our football interest, we will maintain to give priortities to our existing players with committed interest to the team and has invited some other new players to the team.

We will also announced our team of new committees who will assist to keep us going.

Thank you
Sabastian

General Update : We have recruited 10 new players to come onboard RAIN UNITED to replace some of the players in the current team whom we have identified who do not believe in the team or with various selfish reasons, which are expected to be dropped.

26th March 2007 : One player has been asked to leave the team and has been de-registered from the league for walking off the pitch during our match yesterday. The player was also found to be critising the team and had made unnecessary unethical remarks. Likewise, we have also decided to reinstate another player who has shown perseverence and is willing to improve on his weaknesses after spoken to him. The player has been given the ultimation to prove his worth to the team and his teammates.

28th March 2007 : Please be informed that our first league game will commence on 15th April 2007. Razzali and Anand took time off from their work and gathered to discuss some of the comformalties and we shall take the opportunity to brief all the players involve for the league this Saturday. For more details on the AFL league and the fixtures, all RAIN UNITED players are encourage to visit www.afl.com.sg in the near future. We will be posting our own team web when it is up.

News Update (February / March 2007)

20th February - Thank you for coming by to join in the gathering on this Chinese New Year Day. While the visiting mothers sat quietly watching the football programme on TV and the kids playing the computer games, most of us took the occasion to discuss about RAIN UNITED and our football progress. The newcomers finally understood how RAIN UNITED was named and what it took to get it started. We also proposed to kick-off a new set of jersey.

21st February - Mr Aw, Razzali and Anand took time to visit Malek Awab to view the Topper Jersey product in one of the many stops for the jersey hunt.

24th February - We had a friendly match against the team from S.O.F.A. where we lost by a goal to nil. The match was planned as a practiced for the game against the Belgium Embassy. Mr Aw briefed us on the expected "Old English Method" where the Europeans will deploy and we played the match against the S.O.F.A. team with the game plan - low and short passes to familiarize ourselves with.

25th February - Invited Max to join in as an assistant coach to the Kidz Warriors U12 & U13 training session with the hope that Max can pick up some pointers on football coaching and what it takes to inculcate into the boys apart from learning football.

03rd March - We arranged another game today against a group of Chinese friends which we won by 5-1. Not so much on the scoreline, we played the match with exactly the same instructions and plan that we will intend to take it to the Belgium Embassy game.

04th March - We went to Queensway Shopping Center to review the FBT Thai Soccer Jersey and it came out top in terms of the quality and costs on the searched our team jersey. Our new jersey have been designed with an official RAIN United embroidered logo, the sponsor of the POCARI Logo and a company logo. There will be 2 sets each for the team. We have opted one with a maroon top with gold letterings and numbers with the other a white top, orange strips with orange letterings and numbers respectively.

11th March - This game at the SJI Field will feature the staff and Old Boys' from SJI which will be played at their home ground at 3pm. It will give us the opportunity to learn more from this team which plays their regular games every weekends.

18th March - RAIN UNITED will feature 2 teams as invited guests to play in the Choa Chu Kang Sports Constituency 7-A-side Soccer Tournament. I am also very happy to announced that we have got the approval from POCARI Drink as the Official Drinks Sponsor for the tournament which will feature some 32 teams for the 2 day tournament. RAIN UNITED will feature in the Open Category which will be held from 0800 - 1700 hrs. It will be a double knocked out game.

Not so much on the results, let us take this opportunity to demonstrate the good, clean and discipline football that has taken us so far. Let us demonstrate our good sportsmanship and hope to make more new friends.

Apart from the tournament proper, RAIN UNITED will also feature in a "Parents vs Kids" game where the 11 kids will pit their skills against our adults team which will comprise Mr Gan Kim Yong (Minister of State for Education and Manpower, MP for Chua Chu Kang Constituency and Adviser to Chua Chu Kang GROs, Mr Gan's parliament secretary, 4 mothers and the fathers.

I would also hope to take the opportunity to introduce members of RAIN UNITED to Mr Gan and the grassroots leaders on this occasion. RAIN UNITED members are encourage to volunteers as assistance to MR AW who will be the commissioning / match official for the tournament.

25th March - Game against the team from the Belgium Embassy which will be played at the Bukit Timah Pitch 1 at 3pm.

Let's have fun and keep up with the RAIN UNITED team spirits !!!!!!

Cheers !
Sabastian
