Our Football Weekend This Week
14th / 15th April - We took on our juniors to participate in the BraveHeart IMSE Cup 2007 / 7 aside football tournament. Enrolling the boys into 4 different groups between the age of 8 to 12 years old and playing the likes of more reputable teams, the boys did themselves proud by qualifying in 3 finals out from the 4 teams that we have put out. Playing together for the first time and being losing finalists, may I thank the parents for their encouragements and support in believing in themselves. We will do even better in our next tournament come June. Keep going boys! Do not forget your trainings.
15th April - For the 3rd consecutive weeks, rain has either stopped us from training, playing in our friendly matches and even playing in our first league game. For those who have put in so much effort in helping to make things right, a very big thank you to all. In football, sometimes postponing of games is inevitable.
Over the last couple of weeks, I have had good feedbacks from members of the team and in mitigating risks that may affect the team, we are close to covering most angles in ensuring that we keep up with our own standards.
We adjourned to our "mud football" yesterday evening when our first league game was called off. Playing in the rain and kicking mud at one another was initiated to encourage "team building".
Though we had failed in our plans to "sabotage" some of the football friends in namely Max, Dong Rui, Randy Chua and our missing goalkeeper Nelson Lo, whom their birthday falls in the month of April, we certainly enjoyed the "dirty game".
Max was heard to have announced his birthday which was actually in 2 months time which we have got it wrong, nevertheless we wanted to celebrate Jeremy's birthday yesterday but he was seen avoiding us. So let's come June and see what Jia He has to say.
Some of the "old punks" had even sent me sms text this morning and had mentioned that the last time they had played football in the rain and mud was back in the seventies. So guys, it was all for pure good fun. I thoroughly enjoyed it actually.
We have also realized how Kenny has grown up when he burst into laughter over a question posted by Jeremy on how to get to the football venue.
Let's hope the weather is favourable to us this weekend. We will continue with our Saturday training and hope to have the chance to kick-off our league game on Sunday.
Cheers!
