RAIN UNITED UPDATES

It has been more than 3 weeks since RAIN United last played our football together. While the Teck Whye pitch will be closed for 2 months mainteinance, I hope everyone is well and had had a good break. May I also wish our junior boys all the very best in their examinations.

While we are going through some restructuring to our team, it has been encouraging to see new friends expressing their interest to join us. A big thank you to some of the RAIN United members and those who have made effort in keeping tabs with training interest.

For some who have went along with me to play football as guests players, I believed you have noted the difference in your own abilities; playing football with the right positiveness, the winning attitude. You have demonstrated character in establishing your communications and ethical approached for yourself. Also, do keep up with your time punctuality and the believe in your adequate warm-ups and in understanding what basic football play is all about. You have spoken with your actions in your football play on the pitch; which have does makes the difference. The comments were complimented by the match officials, opponents and the friends.

HONG KONG KOWLOON vs RAIN UNITED

It was enlightening to see the overwhelming responsed from all the members when I sent a text to invite interests on our game this Sunday. Let us take this game to work on our match fitness against the Essex team on 7th October.

The Hong Kong Kowloon team, which was formed over the last couple of years together with the artificial pitch, would give us the opportunity to stretch ourselves to the limit, especially after the 3 weeks break away from football. I am expecting all players to be properly geared and be punctual for team formalities.

The players for the game are as follows :-

Nelson
Jeremy
Kazi
Lloyd
Thit Lwin
Bee
Long
Pako
Jia He
Randy
Bernard
Kelvin
Anthony
Shaun
AD

ESSEX (OBA) vs RAIN UNITED

All RAIN United Members and friends are invited to the Tampines clubhouse after the match for a get together to celebrate our team's 3rd anniversary.

For those who are bringing their kids along, we have also booked the artificial street soccer pitch for them to play with the Essex kids team.

Thanks to the Manchester United vs Chelsea game and with special thanks to Kazi, the beers would be exceptionally sweet on this day. Kazi will be bringing the referee for that derby game along too..................Let's see how the game between Essex and RAIN United fares. On current, we are tie at 1 win a piece on record. Chris and Kok Fann have been pressing for the returned match since we last met. They have been training very hard.

THE RAIN UNITED FORMULA

In a football match, sometimes we have to build in our mentality, that we have to play against 10, 12 or 13 men. Match officials do made mistakes; right or wrong. They are human and so are we. Never challenged in the decisions that they have made during the game. Instead, we should stay focused in our game and work on the "winning attitude"; to improve ourselves. Never stop learning. Be true and honest to our good selves.

If you understand your own weaknesses and is acceptable to changes to overcome it with your strengths, work on the right way. Though it may be in bits, that's the winning attitude. Never think that it is too late. Its is always better to be late than never. That's the formula in RAIN United. It has done well for me in both work and sports.

Cheers
Sabastian

AUGUST / SEPTEMBER 2007 - UPDATES

Choa Chu Kang Sports Constituency / RAIN United Kids Football

Our MP, Mr Gan Kim Yong visited us on our training session on 25th August 2007. He was encouraged by the program and the boys aligned to give him a warm welcome support. Though Mr Gan did not put on his boots this time round, when told of the forthcoming cross-culture mini football tournament that will be coming up, we learnt that the community has decided to fund us for the tournament.

The boys had their first cross culture friendly matches with the friends from the Belgium / Luxemburg community on 01st September 2007. The event was a success and not hampered by the rain, the friends, supporters and parents from both teams gathered and had a fun-filled evening. The opposite blocks across the field were also filled with friends and supporters.

We applauded all the friends, parents and both teams and presented a soccer ball to the Belgium team captain as a memorandum of goodwill. The friends thanked us for this wonderful get together and has written to request for another round of get together soon. They had commented that our community is bubbly, cheerful, well organized and were surprised with our warm hospitality.

We conducted our last training session, while the boys and their parents were informed that we will halt training for the kids to concentrate on their forthcoming school examinations. The programme will resume on the first week of November. In the meantime, the field will be closed for maintainance.

Big thank you to a parent who has donated some trainers to the kids and special thanks to Rafi, who was so willingly to forego his soccer boots to assist the community with his picture taking during the occasions.

On behalf of Mr Aw, the parents and the community, we wish the kids success in their examinations. So boys, remember to study and revise your school work and make daddy and mommy proud, ok? See you in November.

Friendship Cup 2007

Lionel was invited to play in the Friendship Cup 2007 for the Boy's under 10 years of age for the second year. Before his games, I had told Lionel to follow basics, what he has learnt from the various coaches and no matter where the coaches wants to play him; either as a striker, midfielder or a defender.

I have instructed Lionel to apply the focused on the "winning attitude" approached. A proud daddy at the end of the tournament, where the games were held over 2 consecutive Saturdays playing 7 matches en route to the finals, Lionel, playing as a last man together with his team mates conceded 0 goals throughout the entire tournament.

Facing tough opponents from schools and reputable clubs, Lionel lifted the championship trophy as a captain for the second consecutive year. Deserving CHAMPIONS YOUNGSTARZ !

RAIN United

We played our last AFL League game on 9th September 2007. Special thanks to the 2 coaches in Mr Aw and Kelvin Lim, both have rendered big support to us. We have demonstrated the "never give up" attitude despite hiccups. There have been valuable lessons learnt from this league tournament.

While some unwarranted issues have been mitigated, some outstandings are still on the rectifications. We will resumed our trainings to work on our strengths and weaknesses. We are not ready for league games but we will continue with our football. May I also take this special opportunities to thank you guys.

Nelson
Jeremy
Max
Randy
Pako
Bernard
Jia He
Kenny
Kazi
Lloyd
Larry
Long
Darren
Shang Pei
Bee

Though we were hampered with a thin squad, thank you for being yourself. Thank you to Young Justin and Lionel who have been supporting us throughout. To Kenny and Jeremy, no football for you until you recover, please. You have serious genuine injuries. Randy, as what your dad had told us, work harder on your fitness as army is coming sooner. You will not enjoy football without it. Anyway, 200% salute to your perseverence but not enough. You have to help yourself.

In the meantime, Max, together with Bee and some friends will help us to organize our trainings.
Finally, may I apologized if I might have been too vocal with my straight forward comments. I am also glad that you have voiced your comments based on what you have seen and evaluated yourself.

Bee, thanks for that goal last evening. It was a beautiful one, for yourself.

Cheers, lets keep going.

AFL League Results - September 2007

When : 02nd September 2007
Where : Kranji Secondary School Field
Who : RAIN United vs WSUS Football Club
Score : 3 - 0 (Walked Over)

I contacted the organizer when I saw the scoreline which went in favour of us without us having to play the game against WSUS when browsing the AFL league table. Knowing that we have 2 remainder games to play on, and were not informed on the opponent's walkover and where our game were supposedly been postponed, the organizer returned my call and had told me that the team from WSUS has decided to forfeit the remainder of their 2 games owing to insufficient players.

With all due respect to WSUS, whom I knew were worthy friends and opponents, I had asked the organizer for WSUS team manager's contact for some clarifications but was told that the WSUS team contact is confidential. Hence I decided to pen it down as I am accountable for RAIN United's non-participation in this game where we take strict considerations on integrity when funds and football proper are involved in RAIN United; WIN or LOSE, ENOUGH PLAYERS or NOT ENOUGH PLAYERS. We have been in the usual "plight" as WSUS but we continued with our team's sportmanship and stand; With what I have been told by the organizer about WSUS, though with a thin squad and is unable to assign a proper team for their remainder games.

Likewise, we were told that there will be no refunds from the organiser. Dear organizer, this is not about money. Having written this shocking football news down, where we were not even informed by the organiser until the "screened", I would also clarify our situation clearly and not depending on what you say; whether I should believe you or not............! There must be voices coming down from the involving teams to narrow down the truth. Likewise, there must be some form of proper notifications before the match being the organiser.

I concurred that the game should not have been any walkover for the 2 teams as I had contacted the organizer some 2 weeks back and he had agreed to postpone this game as we were not available. ??????????????? Another lessons learnt. Is this an FAS sauntioned league where you claimed to be? I have had my doubts, not to mentioned on an occasion where I had offered my suggestions to you, to do it right, being the organiser on this league conformalties, apart from money making. Do it right for the respect. Do you call this a walked over game?

When : 09th September 2007
Where : Kranji Secondary School Field
Who : RAIN United vs Damai Rovers Football Club
Score : 2 - 3
Scorers : Lloyd, Bee
