Update - June 2008
SINGAPORE FLYER & FUTSAL @ EAST COAST
30 of us met on the 5th June 2008 at 1000 am and we went onboard the capsule for an experience on the Singapore Flyer. It was a surprised birthday gathering for both BRENDAN & LIONEL, who both turned 6 & 11 respectively.
We have invited 20 of Brendan's and Lionel's friends, together with the parents, who had taken time off from their work to meet for this occasion. The invited friends themselves were surprisingly shocked with the turnout as well. The boys had done well academically to deserve the small celebrations for themselves. Prior to organising this meeting, we had kept the occasion away from the boys and had wanted give give them all a pleasant surprise.
So much chats and laughter coming out from the boys when one after another started coming by the meet-up point at the Flyer, they were booked into one same capsule while the parents were eased into another so as to allow them to be themselves. They shared so much chatting after the ride.
After the flyer, we adjourned for a party lunch celebrations at the Burger King East Coast. We divided the boys into 3 groups and off we went to the futsal venue after they had complained of itching feet upon looking at the futsal pitch.
Five an a half hours of Futsal ! I had initially catered for only 2 but the boys thoroughly enjoyed themselves so much that we kept going. While the mummies were enjoying the breezy afternoon with light sunshine by the beach chatting away, the daddys couldn't control our pretendence and soon, decided to form our owned "Dreamers' Team" to play along with the boys.
The boys played a round robin with the 3 captains in Lionel, Brenden and Haziq selecting their players and started trading players, turning into a players' manager after each round. While the daddys had our warm-up playing our slow football against one another, soon the boys picked their best players and challenged us to pit our skills against them. I hired a referee who was fortunately willing to be on our side. This way, the daddys could also did what the boys had done; demonstrating our skills; the daddys couldn't stopped enjoying our bit of fun too.
Late afternoon, we went to picked up a specially tailored made chocolate football fudge and brought it onto the pitch. We gathered the boys and gave the birthday boys birthday songs and greetings. Both Brenden and Lionel were speechless.
They continued with their futsal afterwards while the tiring daddys looked on. Amazingly, we consumed 280 cans of Isotonic drinks altogether though were somewhat puzzled with the energy the boys had. It was closed to sunset when we decided to pull out the "yellow card" to stop the boys from playing any further.
On behalf of Lionel and Brenden, I would like to express heartfelt thanks to all the boys and parents whom have made this day a wonderful one. I am sure all of us had a tiring but enjoyable time.
Cheers
